AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dearest Doodlet’s friends and loyal customers,
As the new year approaches, a new chapter begins in the 70-year story of Doodlet’s.
Starting tomorrow — Wednesday, January 1, 2025 — the treasured torch of Doodlet’s will be passed on from current owners Lisa and Stephen Young, who have owned the iconic Santa Fe gift shoppe since 2010, when they purchased the business from Santa Fe Living Legend, the late Theo Raven. Since then, Lisa has carried on the whimsical, joyful tradition for which Doodlet’s is known and loved.
The new owner will host a private reveal party this Friday, January 3. She is a native Santa Fean who grew up shopping at Doodlet’s and understands the uniqueness it brings as well as the special place it has in the hearts of Santa Feans and visitors alike.
Although the closing of a chapter is always bittersweet, the Youngs look forward to seeing the next part of the Doodlet’s story unfold under the leadership of someone who loves it as much as they do and is committed to its continued success among the vibrant Santa Fe community.
The Youngs will remain involved during the initial transition period, and starting tomorrow, January 1, Doodlet’s will be closed to facilitate the ownership transition. The shoppe will reopen the following week under new ownership with regular hours — entering its 70th year.
And please read on for a personal note from Lisa:
It has been my honor to own and operate Doodlet’s, carrying on the legacy both its founders — the late Theo Raven, with the help of her mother Helene “Ma” Ruthling — began in 1955. I knew from the time I first visited the shoppe when I was 10 years old that it was a one-of-a-kind place. To have had the privilege to be part of this Santa Fe institution and the local community is extraordinary. I am so grateful for our team and our customers, both of whom are the true soul of Doodlet’s, and I thank everyone for their support over the years.
As Stephen and I enter the next phase of our lives in retirement, it’s time to pass on the stewardship of the shoppe to someone new, but I will be around for a bit as we fully transition.
I am humbled to have been part of the Doodlet’s story for the last 15 years. Doodlet’s will always be in my heart, just as it was when I was a little girl, and just as it is for so many others. When you stop by next, the new leadership will be eager to meet you and is dedicated to bringing you the cherished Happiness Essentials that make Doodlet’s so special.
With gratitude,
Lisa
